Build your team
for less than you think.
Alberta and federal programs subsidize training, apprenticeships and hiring for trades, industrial and growing businesses.
They lower the cost of building the team you need. I find what applies to your hiring plan, then help you use it.
Wage subsidies, training grants and apprenticeship incentives, mapped to how you actually hire.
Hiring is expensive. Part of it may be subsidized.
- You're hiring apprentices or new staff
- You want to upskill the people you already have
- Turnover is costing you more than you'd like to admit
- You're growing and can't find enough people
Most employers pay full price for something the programs were built to help with.
Where the value usually is.
Apprenticeship incentives
Federal and provincial incentives for hiring, training and completing apprentices, which trades employers miss constantly.
Training grants
Programs (such as the Canada-Alberta Productivity Grant) that share the cost of training new and existing employees.
Hiring and wage subsidies
Targeted programs that offset wages for specific hires, from youth to newcomers to other groups, depending on what's open.
// A note on programs: Programs open, close and change constantly. I check what's actually available when we talk, and I don't quote eligibility or dollar figures on a web page.
What this looks like in practice.
Lowering the cost of building a team
Identified government-supported training and apprenticeship funding opportunities that could reduce the cost of workforce development. Real engagement, client name withheld.
Find. Prioritize. Act.
We lay out your hiring and training plan for the next year: who, when, and what they need to learn.
I match the plan to the programs that apply, rank them by value and effort, and flag the ones with intake windows coming up.
I help you apply, document, and claim, and combine it with tax credits where they stack.
// Wider view: This is one of several places a business can find growth. I look across ideas, markets, funding, contracts and operations, then help you act on the strongest option. See all services.
Questions people
actually ask.
How much can these programs cover?
It varies by program and changes over time, which is why I don't quote numbers on a web page. Many share a meaningful portion of eligible training or wage costs. I'll tell you what applies to your plan.
Can I use this for existing staff?
Often, yes. Several training programs cover upskilling current employees, not only new hires.
Do I have to be a large employer?
No. Most of these programs are built for small and mid-sized employers.
Does this stack with tax credits?
Frequently, yes. Apprenticeship funding and apprenticeship tax credits often work together. Checking the combination is part of the job.
What are you leaving on the table?
You don't need a perfectly defined problem. Tell me what you're trying to accomplish, and I'll tell you where the opportunities are.
