Government funding · Alberta

Government funding your business
hasn't claimed.

Federal and provincial programs fund hiring, training, equipment, expansion, exporting and innovation for Alberta businesses every year.

Most owners never apply, because nobody told them they qualified. I find the programs that fit your business, then help you apply properly.

Fixed fee, not a percentage of what you receive. No guarantees. No free-money pitch.

Who this is for

You might qualify and not know it.

  • You're hiring or training staff
  • You're buying equipment or expanding
  • You're improving a product, process or technology
  • You want to sell outside Alberta
  • You've never applied for a program before

If two of those sound like you, it's worth a look.

What I look for

Where the value usually is.

Federal

Federal programs

Innovation, hiring, export and productivity programs (programs such as IRAP where the work fits). Most have eligibility rules that reward established businesses with real operations.

Provincial

Alberta and municipal programs

Job and training grants, regional economic development funds, and industry-specific programs that change from year to year.

Stacking

Opportunities that stack

How a program combines with tax credits, training subsidies and financing, so chasing one doesn't cost you another.

// A note on programs: Programs open, close and change constantly. I check what's actually available when we talk, and I don't quote eligibility or dollar figures on a web page.

The difference

This is not grant writing.

  • Fixed fee, agreed up front. Never a percentage of what you receive.
  • I look beyond grants: tax credits, training subsidies, procurement, certifications, financing.
  • I can help fix the operation so you can deliver on what you win.
  • If nothing is worth pursuing, I'll tell you, and you'll have saved yourself an invoice.

Grant writers write grants. I find what's worth going after.

How it works

Find. Prioritize. Act.

01
Understand

We look at what you're planning: hiring, buying, building, expanding. Eligibility depends on facts about your business, not on how well the form is written.

02
Develop

I rank the programs worth the paperwork by what they're worth, what they require, and how likely you are to get them. Some aren't worth your time. I'll say so.

03
Decide & Act

I build the business case, prepare the application, and coordinate with your accountant. You stay focused on running the business.

// Wider view: This is one of several places a business can find growth. I look across ideas, markets, funding, contracts and operations, then help you act on the strongest option. See all services.

FAQ

Questions people
actually ask.

Do you guarantee funding?

No, and be careful with anyone who does. Funding decisions are made by program administrators, not by me. I find programs you actually qualify for and make sure the application is done properly. That improves your odds. It does not guarantee an outcome.

How do you charge?

A fixed fee agreed up front. I don't take a percentage of what you receive, which means my advice isn't biased toward the biggest grant. It's biased toward what's actually worth pursuing.

How long does it take?

Finding and ranking the opportunities takes a few weeks. Applications depend on each program's intake windows, which is exactly why it pays to know what's coming before you need it.

Is my business too small?

Most programs favour established businesses with revenue, staff and operations. If you're past the survival stage, you likely qualify for more than you think. Pre-revenue startups usually qualify for less, and I'll tell you that on the call.

You don't know what you don't know

What are you leaving on the table?

You don't need a perfectly defined problem. Tell me what you're trying to accomplish, and I'll tell you where the opportunities are.
